Perfective verbs (see our guide on verb aspects in Polish language here) are normally for actions that are 'complete' or 'done'.
If you are currently doing it (present tense), it can't be completed! It is mid-action. So it is never in present tense.
In Polish, perfective aspect only exists for past and future tense.
Of course, imperfective aspect exists for past, present and future tenses.
